Welcome to my personal website

Hello, welcome! This is my personal website, I’m Friederike Johanna Rosa Wölke, but please call me Frieda. I studied Biology in my Bachelors and continued with an international MSc in Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution at Leipzig University, Germany. I’m interested in the macroevolution of traits and organims, their adaptivity and I’m always curious to find out what led to the emergence of the same trait across many many different species. Although often neglected, knowledge of evolutionary processes and the evolutionary history of organisms and their adaptive potential is most crucial to make projections about this species to the future, since organisms and their genetic potential are only the result of millions-of-years history of extinctions and modifications (potentially adaptive) of traits to surrounding circumstances. Without knowledge of this potential, we are not able to make unbiased conservation decisions. I’m deeply passionate about this topic, so if anyone wants to chat, I’m always happy for an exchange of thoughts. Feel free to contact me for any inquiries: friederike.woelke@gmail.com
